How to Freeze Sugar Peas
If your harvest is more than you can eat then preserve them. I prefer frozen peas over canned peas. This is a video on “How to Freeze Sugar Peas”.
What is great about preparing vegetables for freezing is that you don’t need a special canning pot or jars. We just use ziplock freezer bags. You could use something like Seal-A-Meal Vacuum Food Sealer
that takes out the air.
The books that we like to use are “The Ball Blue Book of Preserving” and “Putting Food By”. My husband, Grady, and I use both books. We compare recipes from both books and use the one we like best. “Putting Food By” is a very thorough book and has a recipe for everything, meat, vegetables and fruit, but there are no pictures. “The Ball Blue Book of Preserving” has many pictures but not as many recipes.
Freezing vegetable is easier than canning although we can a lot of fruit because canned fruit is soooo delicious. The benefit of freezing vegetables is that you don’t have to worry about bacteria. You need to blanch the vegetables to preserve quality.
